Welcome! I’m Jay. I’m glad you found me.
You’re here because you have game-changing, innovative edtech to sell.
You may have heard the dismal statistic: 67% of education software licenses go unused, but that won’t be your tech.
Successful edtech companies definitely exist. I know your edtech transforms student learning. That’s why you got into this business, right?
Just like me, you want students to succeed.
As you’ve gone farther into marketing your edtech, you may have started to ask yourself some questions:
- “Will I ever be able to sell this tech to benefit of real, live students?”
- “Will I find a successful distribution chain before the money runs out?”
- “What was that administrator really thinking?
If you’ve asked any of these questions, then you’re in the RIGHT place because I can help.
My mission
It’s the same as yours — improve education using technology.
I love using technology in my classroom, but lots of teachers and resources continue to focus on worksheets. 5 million teachers used Teacherspayteachers.com to download one of their 3 million, printable resources (mostly).
I believe teachers want to use tech, but they need help implementing it. I want to drive digital adoption by creating the resources teachers need.
Here’s a few ways I believe tech can transform learning:
- gamify learning
- differentiate learning
- provide data to drive instruction
- enhances formative feedback
- create authentic learning communities and audiences
- virtual field trips
- access to subject matter experts
- improve student engagement
What concepts do you use to improve education? Please email me because I’d love to hear about them.
A Little Bit about Me
If I had only one word to describe myself, I would choose learn. What’s yours?
I work everyday to improve my students’ learning with great teaching techniques. I use inquiry-learning, play-based learning, guided reading and math, learning centers, Daily 5, digital portfolios, goal setting, and more. I’m always on the look-out for ways to improve my pedagogy. Next, I’m focusing on adding robotics to my science curriculum.
I love reading and writing so much that I pursued a graduate degree in English Literature prior to becoming an educator. Throughout college, I worked as a communications analyst for companies in Saskatchewan, Canada and a development internship in Kenya. I’m grateful for these opportunities because I got the chance to develop my writing skills.
When I’m not writing or teaching these days, you can find me hanging out at the park or the library with my two-year old. I also have a husband and a cat hanging around the house, generally making a mess. But I love it.
